Eligibility

The due date is April 30, 2026. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 30, 2026, to be considered:

• Applicants must be residents of Los Angeles County

• Enrolled Full time high school senior on track to graduate in Spring/Summer 2026,
  with post‑graduation plans to enroll in a community college, 4 year college. university or specialized training at a trade school

• A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5

• Applicants must be a citizen of the United States

Required Attachments

Please submit the following with application:

• Applicants must have two (2) letters of recommendation

• Applicants must submit an official high school transcript that includes senior year courses and grades

• Applicants must submit a copy of acceptance letter from a junior college, 4 year college, university or trade school

• Applicants must submit an essay discussing their goals and dreams, highlight key accomplishments, challenges they have overcome, and how they will honor and advance LAPD SWAT Officer Randal D. Simmons’ commitment to building a better future
• High school photo
