Scholarship Application

Eligibility


Due Date is  May 5th, 2024 - All applications must have a  May 5th, 2024 Postmark

The eligibility criteria for The Randal D. Simmons Scholarship Programs are as follows:

  • Be a resident of Los Angeles County.
  • Enrollment full time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in the
    Spring/Summer 2024, with plans to enter college or trade school no later than the fall following
    graduation;
  • A strong commitment to pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution located in the United
    States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year
    institution.) Or a strong commitment to pursuing a trade program.
  • Involvement in co-curricular and community activities;
  • Demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5; and
  • United States Citizenship.

Required Attachments


Please submit the following with application:

  • Applicants must have one Letter of Support.
  • All applicants must submit an official High School transcript with legend that includes senior year
    classes.
  • Applicants must submit a copy of acceptance letter from trade school, junior college or university.
  • Applicants must submit a one-page essay entitled “My Goals and Dreams” tell us about you and your
    accomplishments and any challenges you have overcome. Please include in the essay how you plan to continue LAPD Officer Randal D. Simmons’ dream of building a better future.
